Open StudioWorkshop

Open Studio is a monthly workshop series where young people are given space to create, explore, and connect. The program is low-threshold and inclusive, functioning as an open studio for those who lack access to workspace, equipment, or a creative community.
Open Studio Autumn 2026 is part of Draw with Us at MUNCH, a long-term initiative that promotes drawing as an artistic practice, a visitor experience, and a fundamental form of expression. Inspired by Edvard Munch’s experimental approach to drawing and the museum’s collection, the project aims to encourage audiences to explore drawing as a meaningful way of experiencing, investigating, and understanding the world.
This autumn, we’ll be exploring drawing as a form of expression. Over several sessions, participants will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in drawing as an artistic expression, from basic techniques to more experimental approaches.
Program
August 28: Sketching and Design Development
In August, we will focus on sketching and design development in a workshop led by Victoria Oriana, illustrator, educator, and experienced workshop facilitator. With a background in both traditional and digital illustration techniques, she will guide participants through concept development, sketching, and the design process. Victoria is passionate about helping others discover and develop their creative expression.
September 18: Digital Illustration in Procreate
In September, we continue the creative journey with a workshop on digital illustration in Procreate, also led by Victoria Oriana. Participants will learn how to develop their sketches and designs into finished digital illustrations. Through practical exercises and individual guidance, Victoria will share her experience with digital workflows and help participants strengthen their visual expression.
October 30: Drawing with a Focus on Bodily Movement
In this workshop, we will explore three-dimensional drawing and experiment with how the body can become an active part of both the materials and the drawing process. The workshop is led by Ingeborg Bloom Andersskog (b. 1983), an artist from Kongsvinger who grew up in Oslo and is currently living and working in Asker.
With a background in ceramics, Andersskog works with drawing, performance, installation, and text. Time, action, and the creative process are central to her practice, where the interaction between material, body, and space forms the framework for her work.
November 20: Drawing, Identity, and Culture
In November, we invite you to a workshop led by Victor Guzman (b. 1987), a Norwegian-Chilean visual artist holding both a Bachelor's and Master's degree from the Academy of Fine Art at KMD, University of Bergen.
Guzman primarily works with drawing, often in combination with sculpture, painting, video, and installation. Personal experiences are central to his artistic practice, through which he explores themes of identity, biography, and culture. In this workshop, we will investigate how culture and history can inspire and shape the way we create.
December 11: Drawing Inspired by John Savio
In December, we will explore drawing inspired by the work and artistic legacy of John Savio, one of Norway’s most renowned printmakers and visual artists. Through practical exercises and creative exploration, participants will engage with themes, motifs, and techniques inspired by Savio’s unique artistic expression.
