Children’s Art Day offers exciting meetings with artists, creative workshops, and inspiring experiences – all on children’s terms.
On this special day, we invite you to a melodic storytime in the museum’s Festsal with singer, storyteller and poet Sarah Camille Osmundsen. Together with musician Jørn Erik Ahlsen Alkanger, she brings to life the heartwarming story of the friendship between Edvard Munch and the mouse Herr Storm. The storytime is based on the children’s book A Mouse in Munch’s House by Pjotr Sapegin. And who knows – maybe Herr Storm himself will make an appearance?
The story follows the old painter Edvard Munch, who believes he lives alone – until he discovers he’s sharing his house with a mouse. Storm dreams of becoming an artist, just like Munch. Together, they set off on many adventures, and on this day, you’ll hear how they decided to celebrate “Munch and the Mouse Day” instead of Christmas.
This storytime includes images, songs, and playful word games – in multiple languages. It’s perfect for children who are excited or anxious about Christmas, or who don’t celebrate it at all and would rather create their own unique celebration.

Sarah Camille Osmundsen is a singer, poet, and storyteller with a distinctive artistic voice that resonates with both young and adult audiences.
She became the Norwegian champion in poetry slam in 2011 and has contributed as a storyteller and lyricist in several performing arts projects. Music has taken a central role in her work. In 2020, she won the Spellemann Award for Best Children's Album and has released Vingeslag and Våkner i en annen dag on the KKV label. Sarah’s lyrics are playful and rhythmic, yet also melancholic and reflective. With a soft and intimate vocal style, she moves between jazz, ballads and folk.
