In Sense Play, we invite our youngest visitors to a workshop, where we make use of the whole of our sensory apparatus. Here, toddlers can experience senso-motoric and creative activities, by exploring tactile installations and painting with natural and edible ingredients. We start with a little performative tour of one of the museum’s permanent Munch exhibitions, since the workshop is based around a particular painting. In September and October, we’ll be getting to know Edvard Munch’s The Dance of Life (1899–00), being inspired by the painting’s colours, shapes and atmosphere.
Welcome to an intimate, playful experience which will stimulate the senses as well as your interactions with your toddler.
The workshop is developed by Emilia Ruostila, a children’s pedagogue specializing in visual art. The event is held in collaboration with the museum’s expert art educators.
