In this workshop, comic artist and author Emily Sørensen invites you to a crash course in comics and storytelling. You will learn about comics and how to make use of this art form, both visually and dramatically. The workshop also provides an introduction to Edvard Munch's series of images The Frieze of Life

We’ll start in the Amfi to get to know each other, and get some information about the programme. Then we’ll visit the exhibition Edvard Munch: Infinite, where we will have a playful guided tour and stop in front of selected works to talk about how to create a story. Who might these people be? How do they feel, and why? What might have happened just before this moment, and what is the next step in the story?

Through his art, Edvard Munch explored great themes such as love, loneliness, and death. Emily is fascinated by how comics can explore these themes with both humor and warmth. In this workshop, we draw inspiration from Edvard Munch, but only you decide the story and style of your comic! The only thing you need to bring is creativity and imagination!

Welcome!
