Eivind Aarset 4tetJazz at MUNCH

From delicate tones to the most brutal noise you can imagine, Eivind Aarset’s electric guitar is one of the most versatile sound-generators in modern music. Aarset is a true musical explorer who has collaborated with many world class musicians over the years.
He appeared on the legendary ECM album Khmer by Nils Petter Molvær and debuted with his highly praised solo album Électronique Noire in 1998. He has released music on labels such as Jazzland, ECM and as a collaborator since the 1990s he has played with names such as Jon Hassell, Marilyn Mazur, Dhafer Youssef, Andy Sheppard, Laurie Anderson, David Sylvian and Bill Laswell.
Eivind Aarset’s latest album Strange Hands features his quartet Audun Erlien (bass), Wetle Holte (drums) and Erland Dahlen (drums). It’s this quartet which performs tonight in the Festsal, in a special concert for their local Oslo audience. With this ensemble, Aarset’s music feels closer to the bone: fewer obvious adornments, more direct impact, yet still bathed in the shifting light and shadow that have made his records so uncannily cinematic.
