Bendik Hofseth: Forest Jazz at MUNCH

A musical-literary exploration of trees, art and sustainability

Doors: 19:00
Seated event

What role and potential does music have amid the enormous societal changes facing us? For more than five years, musician and composer Bendik Hofseth has been working on his Forest project, an artistic exploration of the importance of nature in a time of unrest and social upheaval.

Now the journey ends with the launch of the Forest box set: four vinyl releases and a book, Trees, a collection of different writers’ relationships with trees placed alongside Edvard Munch’s images of trees.

Forest is made up of the four individual releases Roots (string quartet), Trunks (band), Branches (band with vocals) and Pollen and Leaves (musical miniatures).

Come along and celebrate a unique multimedia project linking aesthetics to engagement.

This evening, Bendik Hofseth will be joined on stage by musicians Helge Iberg (piano), Frode Berg (bass), Knut Ålefjær (drums) and Sidiki Camara (percussion). The Engegård Quartet also appear, consisting of Arvid Engegård (1st violin), Laura Custodio Sabas (2nd violin), Juliet Jopling (viola) and Jan Clemens Carlsen (cello).

Before the concert, the audience is invited to an artist talk featuring Bendik Hoseth, cultural entrepreneur and record label manager Christer Falck, and Dag Aak Sveinar, former director of Galleri F 15. The conversation will open with a short presentation by Dag Aak Sveinar, examining how trees feature in and influence Edvard Munch’s body of work.
