How do I know if my cat likes me? is a collaboration between Hanne Lippard, Ellen Arkbro and Hampus Lindwall released on Blank Forms in collaboration with La Becque. The piece combines sound, vocals and a contemporary flattened aesthetic, reflecting a world in which technological progress often creates alienation instead of community.
Through repetitive organ tones and Lippard's sober recitation, everyday phenomena such as on-hold music or online banking are transformed into a satirical reflection on the automation of life. The project, which was created during an artistic residency in La Tour-de-Peilz in Switzerland and partly recorded on the town’s church organ, is a long-awaited collaboration from the trio, where sound detaches itself from meaning and opens up a hypnotic and alienating space.
Hanne Lippard’s practice lies at the confluence of spoken and written words, and her work is conveyed through a variety of disciplines, predominantly sound-installations and performance.
Ellen Arkbro is a composer, musician and sound artist. She works with precision-tuned harmonics and installations, exploring the ways in which sound can make listening an active, participatory activity.
Hampus Lindwall is an artist, organist and composer. Since 2005 he has been the Titular Organist at Saint-Esprit, Paris.
