Children’s Art Day at MUNCH is a series of events including tours, creative workshop activities and inspiring experiences aimed at kids.

In this workshop, we’ll get to know Ludvig Karsten’s curios, restless painting style. Ludvig Karsten was an artist who lived at the same time as Edvard Munch. Sometimes they were best friends, other times they argued. What Ludvig loved most was colour, deep, glorious colour. He painted all kinds of people and things from his own home. He didn’t think too much, just took out his paints and brushes and got going on a picture. If you look closely, you can still see how his restless hand left marks on the canvas.

In this workshop we’ll explore how to begin with a familiar object and make it into something completely new by exaggerating or simplifying, and deciding what ends up in the picture by simply having fun actually painting.

Welcome!
