How do I get to MUNCH?
On foot or by bike:
A 10-minute walk from Oslo Central Station/Jernbanetorget (tram, underground, bus, train). Bicycle parking is available outside the museum. City bike stations: Sukkerbiten, Rostockgata, Bjørvika.
Public transport:
The nearest stop is Bjørvika (tram, bus), approximately 250 metres from the museum, and Munch Bjørvika (ferry).

Parking:
There is no parking at the museum, but you may drive up to the entrance to drop off passengers. There are three reserved accessible parking spaces for visitors with disabilities and a valid permit on the east side of the Opera House, by Oda Lassons Bridge. Accessible spaces are also available in Operagaten.
Nearest parking garages: Sørenga, Oslo S/Jernbanetorget, Havnelageret, Rådhusgata, Strandgata.
Should I buy a ticket in advance?
We recommend purchasing your ticket before your visit. Read more about prices and tickets here. It is also possible to buy tickets at the museum, but on busy days we may sell out.
Is there an audioguide at MUNCH?
Yes. We offer a free audioguide that you can access on your own device. Get closer to Edvard Munch’s art through voices from around the world, including Jenny Hval’s musical interpretation of The Sun. Read more and download here.
Is there a cloakroom at MUNCH?
Yes. Lockers are available in the lobby. They fit cabin-size luggage only (maximum 55 × 40 × 23 cm). Unfortunately, we cannot store larger luggage.
Is there anything I cannot bring into the exhibition galleries?
Yes, the following items are not permitted:

Backpacks, wheeled suitcases, and framed child carriers

Bags larger than 40 × 35 × 10 cm

Liquids, sharp objects, and umbrellas

Food and drinks (except baby food and necessary medication)

What can I eat and drink at MUNCH?
At MUNCH Kafé on the ground floor, you’ll find pastries from our own sourdough bakery and freshly baked croissants.
MUNCH Restaurant on the 12th floor serves nostalgic flavours and dishes Edvard Munch would have recognised.
At MUNCH Bar on the 13th floor, enjoy a drink with panoramic views of Oslo, indoors or on the rooftop terrace.
Is Wi-Fi available?
Yes, the network MUNCH-guest is available throughout the museum.
Is MUNCH wheelchair accessible?
Yes. The museum is fully accessible and certified with the accessibility label. Read more about accessibility here.
Can I bring a pram into the exhibitions?
No, prams are not permitted in the exhibition galleries for safety reasons. Baby carriers are available to borrow. Pram parking is located by the main entrance. On busy weekends, prams may need to be parked outside.
Are there baby-changing facilities?
Yes. Accessible toilets with baby-changing facilities are located in the lobby cloakroom and on floors 3, 6, 12, and 13.
Can I take photos?
Yes, you are welcome to take photos, but please do not use flash in the exhibitions.
Can I bring an e-scooter inside?
No, e-scooters must be parked outside the museum.
I’ve lost something. Where can I find it?
Lost property is handled at reception/goods reception, located to the left of the main entrance.
Are there lifts?
Yes. Please allow visitors who depend on the lift to go first. Escalators are also available between floors.
Is the museum accessible for visitors with reduced mobility?
Yes. MUNCH is designed according to universal accessibility standards and accommodates large electric wheelchairs.

Are assistance dogs allowed?
Yes.
Are there tactile guidance lines?
Yes.
Is there a hearing loop?
Yes, hearing loops are available in the event spaces (Amfi, Top Floor Hall, and Banquet Hall).
Do companions receive free admission?
Yes. Companions receive a free ticket, which must be collected digitally. A valid companion card must be presented on arrival.
Can I use a framed child carrier?
Framed carriers and prams may be used in the lobby and café but are not permitted in the exhibition floors. Lightweight pushchairs are available to borrow. We recommend baby slings or soft carriers for infants; carriers are available to borrow.
Can I bring my own food?
Only baby food may be brought into MUNCH Café. You may eat your own food in designated seating areas in the lobby.
Can I bring baby food into the exhibitions?
Yes, baby food, bottles, and necessary medication are permitted. Seating is available throughout the museum.
Is MUNCH kafé suitable for children?
Yes. The café offers a relaxed atmosphere, high chairs, and food options suitable for all ages.
Why are prams not allowed in the exhibition galleries?
For safety reasons. In an evacuation, staircases are the only escape routes, and we must ensure clear access. We understand this may be inconvenient, but safety cannot be compromised.
Can I bring children to MUNCH?
Yes — very much so. Here are our tips for making the most of your visit.
Can I touch the artworks?
As a general rule, artworks must not be touched. If touching is allowed, it will be clearly indicated. Please keep an arm’s-length distance and talk to children about looking, not touching.
Where is the workshop?
The museum’s public workshop is located on the third floor, accessible via stairs or lift next to the café in the lobby. The workshop is open during organised activities.
